Ingredients we use in our Eco products and why

All of the ingredients we use in our cleaning products are as friendly to the earth as possible. Many household cleaners contain nasty chemicals that pollute our water ways. If you haven't checked out our blog on nasty chemicals then it's worth a read. Our blog is here.  Below is a list of the ingredients and their amazing cleaning properties.

Castile Soap

An all natural, chemical free soap, made with olive oil and coconut oil. Castile soap is used in a number of our natural products.

Epsom Salts

Epsom salts takes its name from a bitter saline spring in Epsom in Surrey, where the salt was produced from the springs that arise where the porous chalk of the North Downs.

Olive Oil

Obtained from the olive tree, this oil has unrivaled health benefits when used in cooking. However it is also rather good at cleaning and treating wood. Olive oil is also a main ingredient in our home made soaps. It's a wonderful natural moisturiser.

Sodium Bicarbonate

The natural mineral form is nahcolite and is found dissolved in many mineral springs. Sodium bicarbonate can be used in many different ways as a safe and natural cleaning product.  

Essential Oils

Essential oils have been around for centuries. Extracted from plants by pressing or steam distillation. These are the most natural of natural products. Essential oils such as tea tree, lavender & eucalyptus have antibacterial properties. Lemon, lime and orange are excellent at cutting through grease. 

Borax

Borax is a naturally occurring mineral deposit produced by evaporation of lakes and riverbeds. When mixed with water small amounts of hydrogen peroxide are produced making this a powerful non-toxic cleaner. Borax is also not dangerous or harmful to the environment.

White Vinegar

White vinegar is simply distilled alcohol that has undergone fermentation. It has been used for centuries, traces have even been found in Egyptian urns from 3000 BC. White vinegar is a powerful and natural cleaning ingredient. 

Citric Acid

Citric acid is a natural organic acid commonly found in lemons, limes and oranges. It also gives our toilet bombs their fizz!

Lemon

Rather nice with a G&T but also rather excellent at cleaning water stains from metal. We also use them as a natural microwave cleaner.
